| Rural Network | |
One of CHROMA’s priorities is our recently-initiated “rural network” – made up of venues in far-flung places which are keen to have first-rate contemporary music, but struggle to attract top flight ensembles as their budgets are so small. We are building this network on the back of existing relationships with venues, local schools and communities, offering a package that includes education/outreach work. By offering more, more is possible! CHROMA is building deeper relationships with these smaller communities. For example, on the Shetland Islands - which we return to for the fourth time in June 2008 - we work with every school on the islands of Fair Isle, Yell, Fetlar and Unst. In June we bring the "Puppets & Acrobats" project (based on Stravinsky's Petrouchka and Prokofiev's Trapeze), adding schools on the Western Mainland to the schedule, and building on the work with the schools we already have relationships with. To see the forthcoming programmes please have a look at our calendar.
