CHROMA - CONTEMPORARY
CHROMA is passionate about all types of music and its programming is diverse, but prefers to programme contemporary music alongside standard repertoire.
The aim is to present interesting, stimulating programmes that broaden the audience’s musical horizons, but that avoid alienating the audience by presenting them with music that confirms their worst suspicions about contemporary music. CHROMA aims to surprise audiences rather than browbeat them.
CHROMA also considers it important to guide the audience through what they are about to hear. Having the composer present to talk about the inspiration and intention of their work is invaluable. Context is everything.

Composers CHROMA has premiered works for include:
William Attwood (UK premiere at Bromsgrove); Philip Cashian (Purcell Room & Bromsgrove Mixing Music); Tansy Davies (Royal Holloway); Jonathan Dove (Spitalfields Festival – the award-winning On Spital Fields); Dai Fujikura (St Cyprian’s Church); Julian Grant (Alexandra Palace Theatre, with Tête à Tête opera company); Bryn Harrison (Leamington Festival); Edward Dudley Hughes (Brighton Festival); Gabriel Jackson (Luton Music Club); Paul Kellet (Chichester Festival); Tim Parkinson (Hebden Bridge Festival); Joseph Phibbs (Spitalfields Festival); Pavel Novak (Leamington Festival); Arlene Sierra (Cardiff University); David Stoll (St Cyprian’s Church); Alastair Stout (Classic Fair Isle Festival); Graham Williams; Deborah Pritchard, Luke Bedford and Ben Foskett (Music Past and Present).

"CHROMA are such a pleasure to work with - easy-going, friendly and fiercely committed. I am very excited by virtuosity and they have it in spades. It's a great feeling for a composer to know that whatever you write for them it will sound fantastic." Gabriel Jackson
