"CHROMA's concert at Keele was fantastic and people are still talking about
the Beethoven Septet ... a great success"
Alexandra Scott, Keele Concerts Society

CHROMA - CLASSIC

CHROMA has a reputation as a contemporary music ensemble, but it also performs standard repertoire, with the occasional programme featuring largely standard works. Programmes are selected for their balance and interest, considering the audience’s journey through the programme as well as the musicians’.

Most often, familiar classic pieces will be programmed with contemporary pieces, even if the programme is focused on the standard repertoire. For example, at Waterperry House, whilst we are performing Mozart's Divertimento and Clarinet Quartet in B flat, along with Crusell Clarinet Quartet No 2 in C minor, we are also playing Winter Sunrise by one of our featured composers for 2007, Howard Skempton.

"This concert featured two masterpieces of the string sextet repertoire - Tchaikovsky's 'Souvenir de Florence' and Schoenberg's 'Verklarte Nacht' - we listened to very fine ensemble playing, full of commitment and attention to detail and also showing a delightful rapport between the players: it was as if a group of friends had sat down to play music that they all loved. A memorable evening." David Sumner, WestFest
